Hi.

I built a new computer for a friend. It has an Asus A7N8X-X motherboard and Windows XP Pro. When I insert a USB mouse or keyboard, the OS will detect it but it can't install the right driver. It doesn't matter w/c usb ports i used, It just keeps giving me a usb hardware detect over and over every reboot. It was looking for files like hidusb.sy_, hid.dll and another one that i forgot. I just directed the 2 files to my Windows XP CD's i386 folder and System32 on the hard drive for the hid.dll but it still deosn't work. The mobo has 6 usb and I can't even use just one, I had to switch the keyboard and mouse to serial.

I tried to install Windows XP SP1, hardware problems still. How do I reinstall the USB drivers for this motherboard w/ formatting again?

kennl66, check out this Microsoft KB Article. It may address your difficulty w/ USB under XP Pro.

FYI, there's a download link a ways down the page.
