Hi guys,

Well I was having bad registry problems and it was causing freaky stuff like entering power safe mode after a restart within windows and then my cdrom drive disappeared.

On another forum a guy told me what line to delete within my registry and that cleared up my cdrom problems and now it reappeared.

So now, I have to reinstall windows 2000. Can I just reinstall it over windows 2000? can someone list ways on how to do this the right way with tips if possible? do's and don't's

I already backed up my c:/ drive

You should be able to just boot to your Windows2000 cd rom. When you boot, it will show you the partitions you have on your hard drive. I would recommend deleting the partitions and recreating them. This will ensure that you're getting a CLEAN install. Then follow all the wizards until the OS is installed. It's pretty straight forward.

You can't recreate partitions without deleting them first. When you boot up using the Win2k CD, you will have options to re-install your operating system on the primary paritition over your existing one. This way your other secondary parititions will be left intact.
