Proper way to install Zalman CNPS-9500 AM2

I had posted this in General Hardware, but didn't get much of a response.

So here's the deal, I just got my board back from RMA because I screwed it up trying to install this thing. I've installed many a cooler in my time, but this one's different. Using the stock AM2 retention bracket, I have to press down WAY to hard to get it to snap on there. So hard in fact last time that something snapped on the motherboard! I've watched the video (for compete noobs I know) on Zalman's website, and it shows it just gently sliding on lol. So...what do I do? Thanks.
