Proper Way to Install NIC?? NT Experts!!

I have 17 NT Workstations and a Server running SP6a. They currently are using Intel 100 Pros. I will be switching the NICs to Fiber Ops NICs. Is there any precautions or special way to install the new NICs without messing anything up? I would hate to have the server go down on me...

Hmm, maybe you should ghost the machine and test it.. but what i did was...

remove the driver, let it rebind, install sp6a (just incase you get boot errors), reboot machine.

Boot back to windwos, make sure everything is still fine after that nic is removed. shut down, add nic, install driver and sp6a again and reboot.

Should be good..

I second forcesho's vote for Norton Ghost.
Let's you dig your self out any software hole you can create.
Your fiber NICs probably come with a setup program. Remove Old adapter in network properties, shutdown, remove old NIC install new NIC, reboot, run vendor setup program. If no setup software just add adapter from network properties. Forcesho's method is more thorough, but I'm a bum.

Now, you are replacing workstation and Server nics? Just in case this didn't come up earlier. You are going to need new cabling and a new switch, not to mention that you need special tools if you want to use bulk cable. But I'm sure you know that, I hope you know that.
