Proper way to Embed Flash (Object or Embed)

I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to embed a flash object so it will look the same in all (ie6-7 Firefox 2-3, Safari) popular browsers.

Searching brings up 1000+ articles from 2002-2004 about using embed tags within object tags.... is this still nessecary?

Due to the way some browsers render the object tag vs the embed tag its standard practice it seems like to have both. Firefox 2 still used embed I know while safari and ie are using object
