I want to start off by saying I didn't plan ahead and I only had $2 cash in my pocket. After the doctor finished checking me for a hernia, I threw it in his face. He said nothing....just gave me a puzzled look. I assume he was expecting at least $5. Would I have been better off not tipping anything?

^ I've had good luck throwing down a huge tip the first colonoscopy visit. Then I get great service every time I come back. Bumped to the head of the line, stiff pours, soft hands, etc.

You're suppose to swallow loonies and toonies whole the day before, so the doctor finds them during the colonoscopy. That way he only gets his tip if he's actually doing a thorough job in there. They also enjoy it as it's like a scavenger hunt, makes their day a little more interesting.

That works for TSA agents too. Body cavity searches are extra fun if they get to find a secret toy surprise once in a while.
