Proper spelling on the web/forums... Hell, on the internet :)

Personally, due to the informal nature of these forums i do not always use proper spelling, nor complete sentences. :) It's not that I intentionally do it, I just don't always take the time to spell check my work. After someone commented on my spelling a few minutes ago on the hot deals forum, i was wondering what you all think about this.

Should we care about spelling and other such grammar mistakes on informal forums such as this?

typos don't bug me. Incomplete sentances don't bug me. What bother's me is people who seem to have no grasp of the English language and use the wrong verb tenses, leave the "s" off of words that are supposed to be plural, etc.

haha beau, couldnt agree more... the dude was commenting about my spelling in response to the Dell 880 hot deal thread. Then he commented about the misspellings on my completely unfinished and semi-bare website that i have listed in my sig... Haha!

I don't see why anyone would care that much. :)

Some people have no problem knowingly going out in public with foodstains on their shirt, and the tiny hint of a booger protruding delicately from one nostril. Often, their breath stinks, too. Others have more pride in themselves. There are no laws or municipal ordinances either way, however. It's a free country.

Know this, though . . . for every one brave soul who'll tell you straight up, "Hey, your breath smells like a backed up sewer and you've got Taco Bell all over your tee, there, champ", 10 to 20 others you pass are silently thinking, "LOSER".

I don't really care unless the thread is about proper spelling or grammar.

An occasional error is OK. But if the person is trying to make a point I will discount their opinion if there are too many errors. To me, it shows a certain lack of intelligence and or respect. After all, if they can't spell, they probably can't think.

I like making good sentences as far as possible. Misspellings are normally due to my crappy keyboard or sometimes when I'm talking with a familiar person and tend to use familiar terms ;)

I agree with notfred, but if I read a post that's full of numerous spelling and grammar mistakes, I usually think less of the poster's opinion.

Typos bug me. Grammatical errors too. I'll always attempt to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation, and am succeeding quite well so far :)

But yes, I think that it's paramount that, no matter what or where you're writing/typing something, proper spelling, grammar and punctuation is used. Do you've a good reason why it shouldn't?

Anyhtign is beter tahn setnenses fileled with al kind's off grammer adn spelign msitakes, dno;t your agre? =)

I try to make sense whenever I post. Its funny b/c my gf always comments on how I always speak like I'm a professor or someone highly intelligent. Oddly enough, I'm not great with grammar at which point she corrects me.
But truly, if you're just bs'ing or neffing, grammar and/or spelling isn't overly important, it just makes you look dumb;)

errors don't really bug me unless they make whatever is being said completely uncomprehensible. (sp? hehehe)
