Proper Screen Height for Computer Monitor?

I just bought a 32" 1080p TV as my main computer monitor, and I'm going to wall-mount it. Obviously I want to determine the preferred screen height before mounting it. I'm going to test a few different heights, but I wanted some other opinions on this subject.

I want to place it at the best height for gaming, and I don't at all care about how well that height functions for general computer usage. I've read that for proper ergonomics, the top of the monitor should be at or a little below eye level. I also know that the appropriate height for a TV should have the center of the screen at or slightly below eye level. I'm not sure which of these (if either) would apply for a computer monitor, whose main purpose is gaming.

Thanks!

I find my setup most comfortable if my eyes are roughly equal with the 1/3rd marker from the top of the screen. So, 1/3rd of the monitor is above my eye level and 2/3rds of the monitor is below. That's for a 23 and 24" LCD monitor, of course - for a TV, it might be a bit different (since I'd sit back further).

Thanks for the input. I plan to be 3' back from the TV in case that makes a difference.

I'll probably just have to have some gaming sessions with the TV at different heights and see which one I like the most. I was just hoping to find some "official" recommended height that I could start with. Now that Monoprice is back up, I'm itching to order that wall mount :)

Monoprice is back up? Neat.

Just have someone hold it for you and mark it. Just sit the way you expect to sit looking straight forward comfortably (for most people confortable eye position is slightly down from straight ahead)

I think the "official" ergonomic standard has the top edge of the monitor at your eye level. This way you aren't looking up.
