Proper ports forwarded but I still cant be seen online

Posted this in the wrong forum, OK, I am trying to play UT2004 with my brother down the street... when we were in the same apartment it was no problem.. now we both have D-link wireless routers and when i tries to seem me online he can see the server i set up but cant ping me or connect to it...

Initially he couldn't see me until I had the proer ports forwarded. Now that I did that he can see me but cant ping me.. when i tell him to set it up i cant even find him in the list..

What else can i do to make sure he can ping me.. ive tried with firewall down etc..

I used Hamachi some time back to solve this problem, I doubt it has changed much since then.

Just to verify, do you have TCP/UDP ports 7777-7788, 27900, and 42292 forwarded from your router to your computer, and open (not blocked) in the software firewall on your computer? You need to have all of those forwarded in order to host a UT2004 game.

No reason to block out RFC 1918 addresses on a home network. 99% of home networks are 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x

Unless you specifically allow pings from the outside, they'll be blocked (usually blocked by default). Can he actually connect to the game and you're just have issues with the ping or can he not connect to the server?

If it's just that he can't ping you, what's the necessity behind being able to ping you?

He can see me on the server i created but he cant join it... he can try to connect to it, but it just sits and wont connect... it doesn't return a ping for me like the others that he can connect to so that is why I thought about the ping.

Oh youre right, i thought it was my ip.. i didnt look to closely at it lol
