Proper HS/Fan for Slocket

I'm in the process of building a new system with an Abit BH6 and slocket (Abit) and am planning on putting a Celeron 600 in to see what kind of speed I can get out of it. My question is; do I use a Slot 1 or Socket 370 heatsink and fan combination or is there something on the market already that I haven't come across yet? Any suggestions from those who have done the slocket route will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I am runing a p3 700, asus p3v133 and asus slocket, i found a half size golden orb at www.ncix.com.. seems to work reel well.. better than my fullsize one... its the "socket 370 rackmount golden orb" it leaves plenty of room so you dont have a mean old fan gnawing on your ram or anything, you can also check it out at thermaltake.com

factor5... no offense intended , but if hes gonna over-clock i wouldnt reccomend an orb , something along the lines of a Global-Win FOP32-1 or an Alpha PAL or PEP-66 would cool that slug much better for over-clocking.

lemme point this out.... he's on a slocket... the retail intel hs/f barely fits without taking out some ram.

about the only coller that will fit is the golden orb unless he wants to give up a Dimm slot or two. The height of the golden orb (standard not the rack mount one) is like 1.8 inches. I sell these on my site but I wouldn't stock them except for slot one boards and slockets.

I'm using a slocket w/ my p3 1gig and have the FOP32 on there. It covers 1 ram slot on my p3v4x, but a golden orb wouldn't. Phree337, if you're looking into heavy overclocking, you really should probably go with something more than a gorb. Good luck! 🙂

I have an Asus P2B-D and I need two lower profile HS/F's too.
I'm afraid even the standard golden orb is a tad too tall.

Any suggestions for a low profile hs/f that still provides good cooling?

Just to give you an idea of the space constraints:
a standard size GORB is just a tad too big,
the slot1 GORB on an SECC2 fits perfectly.

Wow! Lots of feedback for what I thought was an easy question!! Yeah, I know it can get pretty tight with the Slot 1/Slocket combinations, but I don't think I can get too radical with the cooling. I have some DIMM slots to give up (only 1 stick of 128MB PC133 is going in), so I'm not really forced to keep it below the last (or is it first??) slot. I guess the next question would be how much more over 600MHz can I push the little Celly II with the GORB in place. I already have one sitting on my desk, and I'm still researching the CPU to check the specs. I'm not trying to hit 1GHz (YET!!), so I'm looking at the 800-900 MHz range (which is still pretty serious OC'ing).

If you keep replying, I'll keep reading and learning!! 🙂

Thanks!!
