I sold a used printer as is, since I had no toner to test but it powered up fine.

Guy buys it and I ship it off. He sends me an email saying its not as described (although it was as-is) because he says it wont work. He filed an item not as described complaint. He is demanding a refund(including shipping fee)

Should I:

A) Tell him to pound sand and get fucked in the ass by ebay/paypal
B) Tell him to ship it back and then refund him only the item cost
C) Tell him to ship it back and refund him everything

Item was a laser printer

Sold for $29

Shipping was $15

Either A or B depending on how generous you are feeling. Leaning towards B though since they always side with the Buyer in these things from what I've seen.

If it was sold AS IS and your ad states that, I would not refund Jack...Ebay can see your ad to and review the contents

we need a link or copy of the auction as posted to make an accurate decision.

If you listed it as working then refund if not then A.

I said it was a working pull, but I could not confirm it because it had no toner, so I will sell as is. Which is why I sold a laser printer for $29. Clearly stated.

Hmmm... On the one hand "as is" does mean as is. but. If you said it was working...

I'd give a refund with him paying postage.

he said it would power on (assuming that's actually what he wrote in the description)

I used it only days before I sold it. It was indeed working just fine, but since I ran out of toner I decided to sell it off and get a color. Since I was not 100% that it worked at the moment I sold it, I put as is and made it very cheap.

If he sends it back to me, I feel I should only refund him the 29 for the item, not the shipping charge. :/

In my description I said it was a working pull, but since I had no toner on hand to run a quick test page, it was as is.

Refund with him paying for shipping it back. You want to screw up your eBay acct over $45? How much feedback do you have?

I'd tell him to pound sand, as-is, or take it up with the shipping company since it worked 5 days prior.

I also have the feedback to be a hardass and can take a few negs.

I wonder how he's gonna feel about paying $30 and ending up without the $29 printer he thought he was getting :p

Exactly, if you give him a refund he pays postage, but if it was a) working two days before you sent it and b) listed as "as is" then fuck him.

In his email to me he claims to work for a printer repair company. Part of me has that sneaky suspicion that he took good parts out of it and is seeing if he can pull a fast one on me.

Email to me:

"I received the printer yesterday. It was packaged very poorly. We tested the printer today and it is defective. We repair printers and determined that it needs a formatter. Much too expensive to repair. Do you have another P1505 that you can send us? If not, please refund my payment of $44.95.
"

I see he claims it was packaged poorly, which is a bald-faced lie. That thing was wrapped in bubble-wrap, and the bottom, sides, and top of the box were foam. It was better packaged than when it came from the factory new. ugh
