I'm building a little cooling setup for my laptop, because I want to use it as another folding@home machine, but it gets too hot. I've got it all designed, i just need a power source for a Antec 120mm case fan I found lying around. So far i've been able to find a 12v 500mA DC power adapter, but i'm not sure if 500mA will kill the fan. What kind of current can a fan typically handle? will 0.5A be too much?

edit: of course i could just solder on a resistor, but i'd still like to know what the proper current should be.

The fan will only use what it needs. It isn't like an LED that requires a current limiting resistor.
