Proper 3dmark05 Score?

I'm scroing ~8300 in 3DMark05 with the system in my sig. Deciphering those ORB reports is a pain, because you're never sure exactly what everyone is running. My question is, is this a normal score for the system I'm running?

people like WA261 are exactly why it's hard to decipher compare your 3dmark scores. These hardcore overclockers post scores out of line with average and cause other people to think their system is slow. In fact many of the 3dmark scores submitted online is from these enthusiasts which means that even the average is misleading. The rule of thumb for 7800GTX is that it scores about 7800 in a decent rig (not top of the line). So your score of 8300 is above average, likely because of your top of the line machine.

That system looks sweet. How much did it cost?
Yes that looks about right for a 7800GTX. If you'd like some so-called official confirmation, check ASUS or some of the more popular websites like gamespot or tomshardware and see what scores they are getting.

I agree, it's very hard to see what other parts others on ORB are running.

Have you guys seen the Overclocks some folks are getting at xtremesystems.com with these cards? The higheste I ever play on mine is 490 and they got theres way above 500. At first I was thinking that they were talking about what speed the ORB shows, but they are actually talking about the speed that shows up in coolbits. Then I realised alot of them have their system setup in the open, so of course it'll run cooler

My score stock is roughly ~8200. Although, last night I bumped up my clockspeed with coolbits to 480mhz and hit ~8500.

What is the highest you've safely overclocked your 7800 kman?

Well it can go upto 500/1300 in the recent anandtech test for EVGA 7800GTX, but don;t take my word for it check for your self.
Then it all comes down to this how more do you need.
I got 5160 in 3Dmark05 with my system which is in my signature, so your looks preety good to me.

1st post 🙂

I've gotten 8498 on this system:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (Newcastle) (2.4Ghz)
DFI LanPart UT Ultra-D
MSI GeForce 7800GTX (480Mhz / 1.3Ghz)
2 x 512mb OCZ Dual Channel PC3200 Platinum

So, I think your score is great
