Propanre Fireplace

We are renovating a cabin. It has a fireplace upstairs and downstairs. We are running a propane line to the upstairs fireplace and installing a Peterman propane gas vented fireplace system. Is it Ok to do this with another wood burning ireplace below? My plumber says they can't but I can't get an answer from local building code?

Assuming it's a shared flue, I'm pretty sure you can't do it.
Your local inspector should be able to answer the question with certainty.
