How much do propane tanks run, not the little grill ones, the home ones that are 250 or 500 gallons?

Thanks.

for our house, we pay an annual rental of the tank (120 gal) of about $36

then we pay a per gallon charge when we have it filled up

Here it is mandatory that you fill once per year regardless of your level.

also, if we let the tank get 100% empty, they are "required" to leak check it before refilling it, the leak check has a small fee. so basically if you don't get it refilled before its empty, they have a surcharge when they fill it up

Any idea what the price of a tank your size would cost if you didn't lease it.

Just bumping this b/c I was wondering about the possibility of getting something like this since there is no natural gas service in my neighborhood.

How big of a tank do you want?

Do you want to put it in your yard or bury it underground?

A typical 500 gallon residential tank will cost about $1300 for a new one and $900 for a reconditioned one. These are horizontal tanks that are set on the ground.

cook on a wood stove for hot food and water and a wood fire place to heat... be a real man. lol

It depends on the size of the tank, obviously.

Typically they run from $500 to $2000 dollars, assuming you are purchasing a brand new tank.
These prices can change depending if you want the tank located above or below ground.

Propane costs approximately $2- $2.50 a gallon when you need it filled up.

You can also get used tanks, such as ones that came off leases. (which is what my parents did) My brother in law worked for a place that was contracted to pick up tanks following a flood, he got an unclaimed 500 gallon tank free, and the pipe was pinched off just right, so that the still 60% full. Not bad for a tank that was seen on news reports floating down the American River.

If coming up with cash is an issue, most companies will either lease or rent you a tank, and have no problem doing so.

Seeing that we're on the topic, how much is a normal propane tank for a grill? It may not hurt for me to have an extra.

Not huge. I don't have a huge property and I would only be using it for cooking and perhaps a gas fireplace.

Probably free standing. I'm not sure if codes allow buried fuel tanks anymore. I know you can no longer install underground oil tanks here, but I'm not sure about LP.

This is mostly for FOBOT - how long does you 120 gal tank last between refills and what do you use it for?

Mine was free, as long as you buy the Liquified Petroleum gas from the supplier.

How big is yours, how often do you have to refill it, and what uses the gas?
