Hi,

This is my first time building PC and hence the jitters. Following is my finalized configuration after hours of googling and expert advice (*Friends)
CPU Intel Core i5-3550 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video CardGigabyte Radeon HD 7770 1GB
Case NZXT Source 210 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply Cooler Master GX 450W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply
Monitor Asus VK228H-CSM 21.5"
Built Cofig
Well kindly chip in with your advice and experienced talks, as i might have missed something crucial. Also on specific note, kindly answer these 2 question :
1. ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GTX650 1GB 1 GB GDDR5 vs ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 2GB DDR3 2 GB DDR3 which one would you choose?
2. Is my power supply sufficient enough for supporting the configuration i have choosen, keeping in mind i will NOT be over clocking.

Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions :)

If you're intending to use the pc for games then the graphics card is weak.
Its better to get an i3 and use the difference for a 7850.
The -k cpus are meant to overclock and you've got yourself a h77 which cannot overclock.

The 650 is better, 2Gb vram is just a gimmick for such low end cards like the 650/640.

Thanks for the thoughtful advice, i realized the bit about 3570k and h77 soon after posting. Well i have downgraded to i5-3550, as most places online suggested it for being equally potent as its k counter part, except for overclocking abilities. Also i won't be playing much high end games, so hopefully the GPU should stick just fine... Still any more advice will be highly appreciated.
:)

Thanks for the suggestion, but i am hitting the upper limit of my initial budget pretty hard with the current specs, so any thing over it is tough...any other insight would be greatly appreciated... :)

What 'other insight' do you want? With the amount of info you gave, the advice is as good as it gets.

With one exception, 7770 cards are less than $120 shipped and they are faster than the 650 you picked for $117. Like this one.

I am having alternative to buy Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7770 ($24 costlier) and PowerColor AMD/ATI HD 7770 ($4 costlier). Few questions:
1. Is Sapphire one's at advisable to buy for the price difference.
2. Is Powercolor recognized for its good products. Its just that have never heard of it (to tell the truth had never heard of half the manufacturer before i though of custom building :p)

Well one thing I noticed during the course of custom build was Google can be very biased based upon what you query. When i queried for GTX 640, I got all good results, same for GTX 650 but showed that comparitively its was better that 640 and now the same thing has happened for 7770. So i guess that's what i was looking for, in terms of advice from experienced folks :)

Oh and found another one as available - Gigabyte AMD/ATI GV-R777OC-1GD ($6 costlier) I guess this one's stock over clocked. So back to the initial question, which one out of the 3 mentioned - Sapphire, Gigabyte, PowerColor

ditch the 650 and get a 650 ti/7850 for gaming.
For money get an i3 instead of an i5, and 4 GB ram instead of 8 GB
If you wanna buy a 7770 get the gigabyte one.
What resolution are going to run at? Since its a 19" i doubt the res is high.. a 7770 would be enough..

I remember reading a thread in which a guy claims he gets 40 fps in NFS at 1080p with a 7770(MSI). Lemme see if i can find that thread...

Here it is

Were it me, I'd spend a few dollars more and get a little better power supply. Your chosen model only has one 6+2 pin PCIe power connector. If you ever decide to upgrade to a higher end video card in the future using the chosen power supply, you'll have to use adapters to get the other 6+2 pin power connector you'll need.

It isn't modular, but the the Corsair Builder CX500 is only $5 more after rebate at Newegg and includes two 6+2pin PCIe power connectors.

Thanks for the suggestion inf1nity and Steltek, well i will be spending maximum time on my PC doing non gaming stuff and as for gaming i will be limiting myself to AOE2HD (Online), CS (Online), NFSMW, COD4, Assassins2...even that would be stretching it a bit as (AOE and CS mostly). So do you think i should be investing so heavily in GPU or PSU over CPU. For reference this has been my gaming trend over 4 yrs college and i suspect it will change in future :p

Another important doubt, i misquoted my Display type as 19'' 1366 x 768. But i am going for 21.5'' 1920 x 1080. Kindly inform if it will affect my current configuration in any way. And also will the GPU/CPU support higher resolutions without any issue. Finally what will be the impact on any Online gameplay, will the fps be substantially reduced over the 19'' model

You could always run your games at a lower resolution on a 21.5" or whatever it is you want to get.

thanks bononos...another quick question.
I was checking comparison reviews of HD7770 vs HD6850. I am able to get either of them for the same price. In reviews they showed that HD6850 has few fps better ratings than HD7770 in many games. But even these slightly better fps does not give HD6850 good enough fps rate for those games.
So is it suggestible to go for 6850 over 7770 for these minor fps gains or should i stick with updated GPU having PCIe 3.0 and better power consumption.
