Proof that Tennessee gets really really cold...

My climbing buddy "Matt" and I hiked up in the mountains this weekend to Rock Creek Falls. We left really early in the morning, and the temps were in the single digits with wind-chills in the negative. This is the same guy who climbed Mt. Rainier with me; I made sure to not pee in his cup this time.

Enjoy!

NuclearNed, on the way to the falls
A log & some ice
Ned's climbing buddy, walking on water, lower falls
ice macro
rim pool dam, made of ice
more ice
the upper falls
enormous icicles
icicles, with falls in the background
clear ice

When you say climbing buddy Matt, did you really mean climbing buddy "Matt" or

"climbing buddy" Matt?

We feel your pain though. It has been quite cold down here, too. Nice pics, btw...

Hell yeah, man. I climbed Clingman's Dome in March a couple of years ago, and it was the same thing. A giant glacier across the last mile.

Awesome to find another TNer. It is freezing here...

Don't jump to that city. If you do, we won't loan you water. You lose it all...for ATL?

It's snowing here in Chattanooga. Finally. Maybe UTC can get called off?

Can't help it. Work is making me move to a centralized location between offices.

It's snowing up here in Knoxville as well, though I doubt a UT system school will call off class.

Yeah, the gf is wishing it hard, though. So far only Bledsoe's closed. I'm a sys-admin for Hamilton County, so we'll see if they close.
