Proof of Legal Status?

A potential employer is asking for proof of legal status. Does that mean to show proof I'm a US citizen, such as a US Passport or something?
 
First job? ID such as asked for on the I-9 form. A passport would work fine. A drivers license plus a SS card would also work fine.
