*Proof* Dell is misleading customers about Inspiron 4150 Graphics

I'm in the market for a new laptop that's thin, light, but that can also handle some gaming. I was extremely close to buying a new Dell Inspiron 4150, partially because I was LEAD to believe that it was using a 32MB ATI Radeon Mobility 7500. However, after doing some research, I came to the conclusion that either they made some huge mistakes on their website, or more believably, they're totally misleading their customers and are in fact using the much older (1 year older) plain ATI Radeon Mobility. I wonder how many people they've already deceived... companies should not be allowed to get away with practices like these. There is a huge difference between these cards. Read on for more information...

I'd advise everybody to be extremely cautious when buying from Dell, if at all. I would have been EXTREMELY pissed had i spent 2k+ on their chet because I was lead to believe it was something that it's not.

My guess is that it's just an error on the website. I'll contact them later on, and let them know.

jm9239, judging by your reaction... I take it that you hate Dell for some reason?

no, i didn't/don't hate dell, but imagine yourself saving thousands to buy a laptop and choosing a particular company/model because of one of the features. then imagine it not having that advertised feature. i'm sick of these big corporations getting away with treating customers like this. they sell thousands of those things a day and customers need to know the truth.

Do you know what a disclaimer is? They are not liable for any typographical or photographic errors, and it wouldn't be fair to blame them for typing "1" instead of "0". You should always call and confirm with a live person any specifications in question. A live person CAN be held responsible for such an error, and in that case you'd get special treatment if you needed to return this product for that very reason (even if normally there is a penalty such as a restocking fee).

Try calling Dell yourself. Their sales staff is unknowledgable and incompetent. Mistake or not they are misleading thousands and thousands of customers and I want people to be aware of it. I'm not looking for special treatment or anything from Dell.

if u really wanna reach out to ppl, u should call ur local tv station and have the news run a special interests report. but i think it's a mistake on their end.

Yes jm, I would be quite displeased if I bought that laptop thinking it had a 7500 in it, when it actually didn't.

But if you really want "people to know the truth", then you'd email Dell and inform them of their mistake, so that it can be fixed and those people that you care about wouldn't get short changed.

Trust me, it isn't in their best interest to have a mistake like this on their site. Even if it did help them sell 'x' more laptops, it's still more damaging in the long run

There's no way that they are doing it intentionally.

Agreed, why would a big company like Dell have to mislead consumers to get sales? Although this is proof of either their stupidity or carelessness, or both, this is definitely NOT a purposely misleading statement by them. Also, they are really quite friendly in my experience (the CS people) although maybe a bit poor on the knowledgable side.
