I'm in the market for a new laptop that's thin, light, but that can also handle some gaming. I was extremely close to buying a new Dell Inspiron 4150, partially because I was LEAD to believe that it was using a 32MB ATI Radeon Mobility 7500. However, after doing some research, I came to the conclusion that either they made some huge mistakes on their website, or more believably, they're totally misleading their customers and are in fact using the much older (1 year older) plain ATI Radeon Mobility. I wonder how many people they've already deceived... companies should not be allowed to get away with practices like these. There is a huge difference between these cards. Read on for more information...

Product Highlights

Tech Specs

"The Mobility Radeon 7500 features the following specifications:
-Radeon 7500 Mobility M7 GPU Operating at 270 MHz @ 1.5V
-128-bit DDR Video Ram Operating at 210 MHz"
http://www4.tomshardware.com/mobile/02q1/020220/radeon7500-02.html

System Config + Learn More

"The core and memory clock of Mobility RADEON can go up to 200 MHz"
http://www.tomshardware.com/mobile/01q1/010205/mobileradeon-02.html

I'd advise everybody to be extremely cautious when buying from Dell, if at all. I would have been EXTREMELY pissed had i spent 2k+ on their chet because I was lead to believe it was something that it's not.

I'm pretty sure you put a lot of "hard work" into your "research" but there its pretty OBVIOUS that you can't read very well.

That's a tough call, maybe the tech spec page is out of date? Email them and ask. It could just be a typo.

Full page major newspaper ad today (in Germany) clearly said Mobility Radeon 7500.

If you got it and it was not what you expected, Dell would give you a full refund for up to 30 days from the invoice date.

I've bought a number of items from Dell, and their service has always been exemplary. When I was unhappy over a couple of stuck pixels on an LCD I bought from them, they shipped a brand-new (and perfect) replacement -- no questions asked -- and gave me 14 days to return the bad one -- at their expense.

The proof in on Dell's own site in that it advertises the Mobility Radeon 7500.

The question is whether it's intentional or not.

Yea, I read the links, I just didn't see where Dell was actually shipping Dell Inspiron 4150 notebooks without the Radeon Mobility 7500 chip as standard?

Review and Review seem to indicate the ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 is indeed standard and it ships with that graphics chip, unless I'm missing something, he's infering that it has 32MB's of memory, but it looks like it could be 16 or 32? I'm not real familiar with the particular item, because I don't have one, but seems as he doesn't either, and he's making accusations without real "proof" IMHO....well unless I'm wrong again of course:)
