I wish to call my roommate today in order to introduce myself, etc. His name is Shiveindra Jeyamohan. I was wondering how exactly to pronounce his name, I'd like to get it right in order to start off with a good impression. I was thinking She-ven-dra Je(as in jet)-ya(as in yacht)-mo(as in Moe)-han(as in Han Solo). Corrections? Advice? Thanks. :)

Shi as in She
vein as in ven in vending
dra as dra in dracula.

Edit: oops. I did not read your thread completely. What you are thinking is exactly right.

I think you're correct about the first name.. If he's from south indian the pronunciation of the last name may be a bit softer (I'm from the south)..

jay-a-mo (as in moe) - hon (as in honey)

try it first, then ask her if you pronounced her name right. i don't see anything wrong with that.
