Pronunciation of Acronym OCZ

While watching one of 3DGameMan's Video Reviews of an OCZ product, he said OCZ as "Oh See Zat". I thought it was "Oh See Zee". Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I know this may be somewhat irrelevant, but it irks me.

Nonono, you don't pronounce it as a word. It's an acronym.

Back in the day, I believe their full name was Overclockerz, was it not? I'm talking about way, way back in the day when they were considered a shady outfit.

An acronym is an abbreviation pronounced like a word (ie. radar, sonar, laser). OCZ is not an acronym, unless it's pronounced 'ox' or something.

Heh, I've seen OCZ employees here on the forums from time to time, maybe one of them will stumble across this thread and clue us in.

I've always pronounced it "oh-see-zee", but no matter how you say it it's always been the best RAM for my dollar.

I do "Oh Sea Zee". On their sticks, they write the letters with capital OC followed by a slanted Z.... so I thought it had something to od with OverClock Z.

Oh See Zee 🙂

But yes many countries pronounce the letter Z as Zed so 3DGman is just pronouncing the letter Z when he speaks 🙂

Only been on board since January, so I have no idea if it used to be OverClockerZ, sorry 🙁

Then we have to change the "Vee" to "Ved" in the ABC song so it will rhyme with Zed.

I guess you learn something new everyday.

An acronym doesn't have to be pronounced as word.

FBI is an acronym, but you don't pronounce it, as it would be awkward.
