Prong Sticking Up in Middle Of Socket on KT7 Raid

I went to install a processor in the socket on my KT7 Raid and I noticed a little prong sticking up in the middle of the cpu socket. Is this prong supposed to be pushed down, bent, or what? I can't get the cpu to mount flat with it there. What is this prong supposed to be for? Please advise.

That prong is the themal contact. Leave it bent up and then insert your chip and gently push down on your chip until it is flush with the socket.... this will ensure that your CPU is in contact with the probe. BTW... it's like this on all of these mobo's. I wouldn't be surprized if it is purposely bent upward at the factory. If it were bent lower, it might not contact the CPU and then the temperatures reported would be much less accurate.

Some of these thermistors are tuff to bend if you just push on the cpu. Bend it slightly BEFORE inserting the cpu.
