Well its about this time a lot of people that spent money purchasing mostly computer hardware at Christmas time, realize they never got that promised rebate in the mail. Of all the rebates I send in, I always have to hound at least 80% to get my rebate processed. One huge rebate from office depot never came and when I called they said it did not qualify since I missed the time frame in mailing it in. Lucky for me I saved copies of everything, and the rebate form stating the date they must receive the rebate submission. I sent that rebate registered mail, so I had a verify of delivery date. And naturally, that date was well within their time frame.
When I pointed this out to the rebate center for office depot, they put me on hold, read the rebate, and came back saying they would process it right away.
Now, most people would not go thru this or keep copies. And that?s what the places, like office depot are hoping for.
This whole rebate thing seems to be a huge racket. It might as well be ran by organized crime. I think we need harsh laws to protect us from fraud with rebates by places like office depot. And hefty fines when they try to worm out of honoring any qualifying rebate.
If I had a rebate for everyone I hear about that either have to hound the company for their rebate, or just give up after never receiving their rebate, I'd be very wealthy.
Its to the point now I avoid anyplace offering a rebate. I'd rather save $5 straight out on an item than saving $50 with the promise of a rebate.
