Promise Ultra66 need help???

I have an older computer that cannot recognize a hard drive larger that 8GB. However, I have a 20GB that I would like to use. I want to get a promise PCI controller card. But it needs a PCI 2.1 compliant motherboard. The one I have is 2.0. Will this matter?
