thanks but i have been there, still does not tell me much

Will my Ultra100 work with a CD-ROM, or other ATAPI device?
Cause: ATAPI, CD-ROM, Removable Devices, DOS, Windows NT, PnP

Solution: Removable media devices can only work on the Ultra100 in PnP OSs (like Win9x). In an OS like DOS/WinNT, that is not PnP, the removable media drivers cannot see our card because it doesn?t use standard resources. In a PnP OS, the Ultra100 drivers must be loaded before the device will be seen.

so they will work after the card is installed or not...

whats the difference between the tx2 and non tx2 cards?

The cd drives will appear when you are in Windows, but not before you've booted. For example, you can't boot from CD.

TX2 = compatible with 66MHz PCI, works fine in 33MHz slots
non tx2 = 33MHz pci only.

Instead, I recommend a generic Silicon Image 0680 based controller for full ATAPI support as well as optional RAID.

thats what i probably should have gone with... so few information about atapi devices though, just harddrives and raid setups
