Promise SuperTrak EX8350

I didn't have that one, but I had a Promise SX6000 (6-port IDE RAID), and it was good to me. Nice setup and everything, so I'm sure this one will be the same... 8-port SATA. How much is this card? I'm using a 8-port SATA RAID controller myself right now. It's awesome. Broadcom BC4852. I love the features that is has, like online capacity expansion, and RAID array transforming... Fun stuff.

It's about $400.
I have a BC4452 right now that I'm about to RMA because it won't show the drive on my port 3. If I don't get the Promise card, I may upgrade to the 4852, but I don't like the slow rebuild times on this card. Also, any PCI-X card is going to crippled in my system since all I have are 32 bit PCI slots, hence my reason for looking at PCI-E.

Yes, I'm aware of this thread and as you might have noticed, I've posted questions in it as well.

Ahhh. PCIe. Gotcha. Damn, who was it. I think it might have been Zepper or Kensai. They have a sweet ass PCIe RAID card. I'd get in touch with them... I have it somewhere on a list to get if I ever get the updated Xeon mobo that has PCIe slots.... Very orgasmic RAID card. hehehehe

I did a quick search, but didn't find any posts from either of them with info on their setups. I may send them a PM.

I did talk to ElTorrente, who has a Areca 1210 in his DFI SLI-DR and previously had a A8N-SLI Premium. However, the Areca is a PCI-E 8x card and the 8 port version is out of my price range.

It appears someone at SR has the card installed and has posted some benchmarks. Apparently my e-mail updates for that forum aren't working correctly.

Correction. Yeah, it was ElTorrente. Areca 1210 PCI-e Raid0 (4 x T7K250 160gb). Sorry about that. It's expensive, but damn that thing is fast. I made a comment about the speed of mine in a thread, and he had to comment about his. Yeah, he pwned me. But I'm stuck with 133MHz PCI-X (hehe), so I'll probably be getting something like that if I upgrade to PCI-e setup.

What card do you have?

I have the Broadcom BC4852 with 5 250gb Hitachis, soon to be 6 Hitachis, in RAID 5, and soon to be 2 Seagate 160gb 7200.9's in RAID 0.

EDIT Linky
