Promise Super Swap... Can I use it as a single hot-swap hard drive?

There is a hard drive bay called the Promise Super Swap that I have a question about.

Can I use this as a single hard drive that I can yank out at will while the machine is running?

I want to use this as a backup drive. I would be using Backup Exec to create backups to disk. When the backup is done, I want to be able to pull it out and set it aside until next week's backup.

Now, is Win2K gonna freak out if I pull this? Is it going to automatically give me a drive letter if I hot-plug it in?

The thing is really designed with the promise RAID controllers in mind, so the OS would never see any changes if a drive fails or gets yanked out.

Here's what Promise has to say in the user manual, and it's doesn't make it any clearer to me...

<< NOTE: If not implementing RAID 1, 3, or 5 as described above, the
SuperSwap will work as a removable drive carrier for a nonbootable
drive. Users should power down their systems prior to
removing and replacing drives unless the Operating System
supports hard drive removal during normal operation.

So I guess the question is, does Win2K support hard drive removal during normal operation?
