Do I need to update the BIOS or it just simply does no support it ?? I used SATA I drives and it is totally fine even up to 500GB drives at work. What can I do... there is not just 1 card but 100s of them at th server... my god I am feeling sick now.

I was under the impression that sata was backwards compatible. Contact the promise technical support to see if they can shed any light on the problem.

There was a jumper setting on my Western Digital SATA 3G drives to force it to SATA 150. My VIA chipset motherboard wouldn't recognize the drive without the jumper, so that might work for you..
