I just bought a Promise S150 SX4 RAID controller and found out it had serious performance problems when running an array as boot drive with Windows XP. It turned out to be a driver problem that could only be solved by installing a beta driver for the SX4000 controller. Also, this controller supports only RAID 0+1, not RAID 10 like it says in the product marketing. All this and more I've included in my review of the Promise S150 SX4 RAID controller at http://www.somacon.com/fasttrak_sx4/, which includes a Sandra benchmark of a four-disk RAID-5 using Western Digital Raptor 36GB SATA 10,000 rpm drives.
