Promise Raid Card Help please

BurnItDwn

Lifer
I am having a problem with a fasttrack 66 card i have

I am using 2 5400RPM Maxtor Diamondmax 40 30.0GB drives.

the Fasttrack66 reports these as 2GB drives.

If i use the ata33 on my bh6 bios .. it reports them as 30GB

I have the newwest Bios for the Fasttrack card and i am runnign windows ME

Does anybody have any ideas as to why it thinks the drives are only 2gb ???

id really like to run these in parallel and get that extra performance boost that raid 0 offers.

How did you format the Array? You need to fdisk as usual and choose to enable large disk support, then decide if you want to use one large partition or partition it into other sizes. With the raid, if I remember correctly, fdisk will see both drives as one. Once done format it. Then install Windows. Once done you will need to install the promise drivers in windows.

well right now im using my old 20.5gb drive as my boot drive ... until i get the raid card working right ...

THe raid card's bios is recognizing the drives as only 2GB ..

When i fdisk (i did enable lba) ... it reports it as only a 4gb drive (both of the 30gb drives reported as 2gb)

when i formatted ... it came up as a 4GB drive in windows ...

i have never had any problems liek this before except in the old days when i installed a 10gb drive and had to use the ezbios that maxtor had supplied.

It seems as if its not fat32 or something ... which is really strange because win ME is all fat32 ...

any other suggestions or recommendations ???
