The Promise IDE RAID controller is also a disappointment since it uses the same BIOS as the other boards equipped with Promise RAID chips. This limits RAID 0 arrays to a single stripe size of 64KB, which is unfortunately too low for most applications to get the biggest benefit from a RAID 0 array.
This is taken from the KT 333 Motherboard roundup of last month.
This Raid controller is on the MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU mobo that was picked as Editor's choice and in the professional 3D System.
Does anyone know if that controller is performant in a RAID 1 configuration?
I am considering the motherboard for a workstation with critical data.
Thank you!
