It can take upto 6 drives!

I guess if you had like 6 75GB IBM's it would work out to be a bargain compared to an ultra2 card with 6 73Gb Seagates.

this would be comparable to the adaptec IDE RAID controller i mentioned several weeks ago. the price is also comparable to the adaptec controller. but the adaptec one uses DIMMs instead of SIMMs which i find better.

this is RAID for the serious people, only with cheaper IDE drives as opposed to scsi.

about the SIMMs, it's good for some people who have extra SIMMs, i don't have that much invested in SIMMs...

i should add that i am interested in this for my next system. but RAID 0,1 with 4 of the IBM 75GXPs or whatever would be the IDE drives of choice in addition to the extra cache offered by the card. I am not in the market for 3 or 5 actually ;-)

4 75GXP's + Fasttrak 100 RAID 10
=
cheaper and more secure than

3 75GXP's + Supertrak 100 RAID 3

The cache would be nice though (we need a drooling smilie!)

i have to determine how much throughput i need since i already have a modded promise 66 controller.

i am still looking at the adaptec solution, though the promise one is there too.
