Please Help. I have and Asus A7V266A/EE with the built on Fastrack controller. The two hard drives are 40GB Maxtor and a 40GB Western Digital. Both are on seperate channels. Fastrack setup says array is functional. PArtition magic recognizes drive (as one 80GB) and win98 installs (it seems to be crashing often though, probably related?) but the winXP setup after a format does not recognize a hardrive as being installed. In upgrade, or full from 98 it comes up with a critical error. I tried hitting F6 and installing the driver that was on the CD and the 2.00 on the website. Setup said there was an error in both with fastrack.sys.

You need to make a floppy on a working machine. Either use the cd that came with the board or go to asus and download the latest drivers for the promise controller. Put the drivers on to floppy make sure there is a file called txtsetup.oem in the root folder.

Now boot the cd and as soon as the screen changes from black to blue press f6. You will see down at the bottom of the screen it says to press f6 to load additional drivers. Setup will continue to load for several minutes then it will ask you to load the floppy to install additonal drivers. Setup will prompt you through it. Setup will finish loading then ask you where you want to install it. You should be able to see your drive this time.

I just reread your post. Try using a different floppy or try making the floppy on a different machine. You must get this driver to load in order for windows to see your array.
