Promise Controller on A7V133 and high fsb....is it effecting your O/C

Hi...I have an A7V133 and use the Promise controller for ATA100 support not RAID...there are reports with the Highpoint controller affecting O/C performance with high fsb..

I am currently running at 9.5x 148fsb with promise controller..I have tried 8 x 150 cas 222 and optimal ram settings and booted W98SE fine but if I try 9.5 x 150 the system will not post...I know my 1.2 doesnot like 1425...so this probably the problem...

I am curious if A7V133 users are finding better o/cing with use of IDE 1 & 2 and no use of the Promise controller or it has had little effect on your O/Cing???

I really do not want to reconnect everything to find no change if others have had no effect on there o/cing....

I did some comparison for the VIA IDE and Promise, and Promise controller seems unaffected that much if used with overclocking. So I guess it's not a problem.

OT: do i need to install the promise driver if i am not using raid

Don't you have 2 drivers, one for Ata100, another for raid?

Thanks...if you want to use ATA100 I would install these drivers from the cd...
