Promise ATA133 controller card problem.

While installing XP I couldn't get it to install the drivers for my promise ata133 controller card. I tried to let windows detect it and I downloaded the latest drivers off of promise's site (F6 during install). Kept getting an error. So I just plugged the HD into IDE0 and installed windows. In device manager it had and error on Mass Storage Controller. SO I updated the driver with the same floppy I had tried during the windows install. My plans were to install the driver in windows and then shut down, attach the ide cable to the controller card and use that. It installed fine but when I boot up it says something like "ata133 driver not installed".
So I'm guessing if I try to switch it to the card it isn't going to work.
Any ideas?

Try it in another PCI slot.

First, In device manager, right click the Mass Storage Controller and uninstall. Power down then try it in another PCI slot.
