Promise ATA100 controller on A7V & Win98...HELP!

I know I've solved this problem before but I can't remember how. It's been a while since I had to rebuild.

I've installed the driver off the CD but it still says in Device Manager that the device isn't working properly. When I downloaded and installed the driver on ASUS's website I started getting windows protection errors.

The driver on the CD works fine under Win2K but Win98 hates it. Without it I can't run my HD on the ATA100 channel. :| Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks. 🙂
 
If you have a SBlive then you must uninstall the drivers for the soundcard first. Every time I build on the A7V with a live I have to setup the promise controller first. Just a guess that you have a Live. If not I wish you luck.

I do have an SBLive. Click on the link "My Rig" in my signature to see my system specs.
