Thanks for the answers to my previous question regarding the computer upgrade for video editing. I am inclined to keep the current mobo and add RAID by promise card.
I happen to have maxtor 30.7GB ATA66 drive(53073U6) and like to use it as one of 2 hard drives for RAID for the moment. I searched through some of my favorite stores, and it's hard to find the same model. Looks like all they carry is maxtor 30.7GB ATA100 (53073H6), which is basically the same drive except the ATA part.
Now, do these 2 models show the same performance in terms of data transfer rate:
1. promise fasttrack 100 + (ata100 + ata66)
2. promise fasttrack 66 + (ata100 + ata66)
I guess I'll take model 1 because promise 100 is only $30 higher than 66, and I may buy another ata100 drive soon. They are all backward compatible, right?
