For the price, logitech absolutely. The Promedias are in no way worth $260 more than the z-560s, almost 3 times the price.

At that price, you're better off buying two z-560s and setting them up as 5.1 (yes, it can be done)

Harsh highs sound like sh|t. Screw horn tweets.

<< and you get what you pay for, the logetechs are cheap speakers.. >>

Tell that to somebody that builds speakers. Klipsch are probably worth about same, but they are hyped up and the price is jacked up.

<< look how many peple have had problems with them >>

That's because more people own them.

I bet that you haven't even used the logitech Z-560 speakers.

if your computer is your only home theater system, then get the Klipsch.

otherwise, if you've already got a home theater then just get some logitech z560s.

Myself, with a home theater already, i just can't justify spending 400 dollars on speakers for my computer.

edit: thanks. i knew home theater entertainment center wasn't sounding right!

I have the z-560s and I love them, but right now theyre sitting useless in the corner because the sub broke. The first thats ever happened to me with any sort of audio equipment.

It does have its problems.

Exactly, I would get the Klipsch's because IMO I think they are a lot nicer, but I still love the Logitech's because of the price.

Proud because you paid too much for tham and have to make yourself feel better for it. You will always get this kind of reaction when dealing with expensive products. People need to justify their purchase so they don't feel like they've wasted money. Not everything is worth the money when you play the name brand game.

I have the Z-560s and they sound good and work great. Haven't had a problem with them in the 2+ months I've had them.

Just to compare audio tastes, my home theater setup is an Onkyo TX-DS575x with Infinity RS5s, RS3s, CC3 and a Polk 350 watt Sub and I think my system sounds absolutely fantastic.

based on what facts??? if anyone has ever heard these speakers side by side (which i have), the highs are excellent on the logitechs as opposed to piercing headache causing highs on the klipsche, and the bass is incredible... the only advantage here is the klipsches are true 5.1 vs 4.1. if that isn't important to the buyer though, then i would definitely recommend the logitechs over klipsches

Why do people make such a big deal out of computer speakers?

A very modest home theater setup would blow away either of those..

Get a receiver or amp and some real speakers :)

Well if it was me, I'd go with the Z-560s, upgrade my sound card, get a GF4 TI4200, and still have a bit of money left over.

As a speakerbuilder, knowing which parts go into the Logitech Z560's and having a general idea of the parts in the Klipsch's, I can honestly say the Z560's are probably better sounding speakers.

Wow, just this week I started asking myself this same question... what a find to have all these comments already.

I do have one more question about these 2 systems--can anyone comment about the control boxes that are used to control the speakers? I was under the impression that they both had one, and that control box would be an important factor for me.

Also, I read that the Z560's can be wall-mounted, has anyone done that, and how well does it work?

You're kind of comparing apples and oranges as one is a 4.1 and the other is a 5.1 system.

Personally, I'd go for neither. I just purchased a set of Boston BA7800s, and they wipe the floor with Klipsch! Adul would probably agree with me :)

Edit: Betweem those two, I think the Z560s offer a better value, but still don't compare to the BA7800s.

I have the Z-560s in the kitchen and the K 5.1s in the beadroom. I like them both, but I got the Zs for $114 from Dell. The sub apparently will blow a fuse if played with too much volume. For the money they are really nice.

the 5.1 is better if you can afford it. 5.1 true dvd experience. btw the 5.1 isn't just a 4.1 klipsch with added speaker:p digital volume readout, headphone plug, dual 8" sub etc etc etc:)

stealing from another thread

"There are a couple of other minor but none the less important changes from the klipsch v2.400 / 4.1 to the klipsch 5.1 ... Besides the things that were already mentioned: that you get the center channel, an the amp boost to the sub goes from 160 -> 200, and the amp has to provide an extra 60 for the center (total of 500 watts), and the Dual 8" sub (which makes a bigger difference than you'd think) ...

You also get "normal" speaker wires with banana plugs, which stops the annoying static and loose connections from the old miniplug style, the satellites are actually different than the klipsch 4.1's which is said to have an impact on sound quality, and additionally the klipsch 5.1 has a much more polished and professional feel to it. For example, you don't have 3 wires coming out of the back of the control pod, 2 of which go into the soundcard. You instead have 3 miniplug jacks on the back of the subwoofer, and you use the included wires to plug into your sound card (that way if you ever lose the wires, or the wires get damaged, you can easily just replace them).

Just my opinion on the klipsch 5.1 (I happen to own a pair of the v2-400's, 4.1's and the 5.1s)... If you listen to a lot of music, watch a lot of DVDs on your PC, and care a lot about the sound quality for games ... definitely make the investment in the klipsch 5.1s ... Once you get them, you'll never want to go back to some of the cheaper solutions. However, the klipsch 5.1 at $399, or even $375 is not for everybody.
