$90/ticket.
40 minute drive each way or mass expense for limo
No free food this year
No date. No girls I'm even mildly interested in.
On night after final exams. WhyTF is it being held so late?
Nobody I really care about still goes to school here.

And yet, I feel strangely obligated to go, dress up like a penguin, and blow a ton of money for no benefit whatsoever, just to spend an evening with people that, with very few exceptions, I don't ever want to see again. In my mind, I *KNOW* that the senior BBQ will be a much better event to chill with the few people I can stand. I mean, seriously, everything's free, paid for by the underclassmen. Food, games, live music, outdoors, BIKINIS, etc.

I never went to prom.

First prom I went to was as a security guard last year. (part time gig)

I'm glad I didn't go to my prom. I would have thought it a waste of money.

Hmmm I'd say go, it only happens once so you might as well. I didn't go but I never cared for those things, and looking back these past 10 years, I can't say that I regret it. lol Just do what feels right at the moment.

Don't go if you don't have a date or a girl to ask. I didn't go to mine and I slightly regret it, but it's not that big of a deal once you're out of high school.

Don't go if you can't even get a date. Prom is just another way to get slutty girls in bed. That said, I went my sophmore, junior, and senior year and had a great time.

If you don't have a date, don't go, you'll feel like a loser. But if you can find a date, go. At least you can say you went and chalk up another experience. It's not really something you'll ever be able to do again. Who knows, maybe you'll have a good time.

Thing is, even if I DO get a date, and therefore go, at that point it wipes my entire checking account, my entire cash stash and a big chunk of my savings.

Didn't you start a thread before saying you got sidetracked in a computer class from asking a girl to the prom?

Yeah, I found out shortly thereafter that she has a stealth boyfriend. God damn I hate guys that don't mark their territory clearly and keep the rest of us guessing.

Agreed. Its really not a special night unless you plan on getting some nookie.
Back in the 80's girls used to hold on to their virginity until prom. But nowadays if she hasnt given it up yet, she wont until college.

A friend and I came from Israel, not into the whole Prom thing. At first we were like screw it, what's the point? Blow tons of money on nothing...

Then we came to our senses and crashed in with Jeans and T-Shirts :p Best time ever!

I'm from Inglewood/Joe Johnson in Nashville. I don't know of a girl from my high school that didn't lose her virginity in middle school. Also note, I said slutty girl. They just happened to all be slutty where I went. Also, the girls from the rich suburbs to the south would give it up to anyone from a metro school. All this from a conservative southern state. Interesting.

Dress code is strictly enforced by the damn b!tch vice principal that's responsible for it at school. I swear, she's a black nazi.
