Is there anyway to prolong energy levels? I have a lot of work to do and I prefer working at night (less distractions) I drink coffee and take caffeine pills but I usally clock off about 1am, my head juts feels empty.

Cheers

If I knew my secret I would share it with you, I can't seem to fall asleep before 3am even if I try taking sleeping pills.

I would say, energy drinks, caffeine pills, getting up later or taking naps during the day.

Try eating some smaller snacks throughout the evening/night. Peanut butter on whole wheat bread... something with some protien that will stick with you but not make you too tired.
That is what helps me... besides the obvious energy drinks and coffee.

i try and have pasta at lunch time, alot of energy drinks (power rade)

Believe it or not, bad carb timing can actually be worse for that reason, and its not too friendly on the mid section if you're not active either. 😉

Gym help me improve energy levels?

I do go, just been so busy with work ( the very reason I want to stay up later and do more work) that i havnt been in a few weeks.

I'd say keep eating healthy if you are already. Energy drinks (red bull, rockstar, monster, etc.) are no good. They give you instant energy but after an hour or so it's all bust. I take that 5 hour energy stuff which is full of vitamins and what not and it helps quite a bit. I would say exercise also but that's easier said than done.

Pasta (and a lot of carbs in general) can make you feel very tired/lethargic afterwards.

Also if you run, that will give you energy. When I started doing cardio a month or 2 ago, I was initially doing it around 11pm at night on the treadmill. I noticed I would have trouble sleeping, and I now do it when I'm at the gym right after work (around 7pm or so).

Fixed. Peanut butter and honey (P&H) on whole wheat is a perennial boy's favorite!

'course, the honey (sugar) kind of wipes you out, but in a good way...

Going to the gym might make you feel better / more awake. Endorphins are nice that way. Also, you may want to look up biphasic sleep or something.

Caffeine pills is not the answer. Why get addicted to caffeine? It may keep your eyes open but it doesn't mean your brain will stay functioning.

If you work at night, sleep in in the morning.

cardio FTW... when i'm at work and it's late afternoon, nothing beats taking a quick walk around the building. It's actually more effective than caffeine for me.

cut out the coffee and caffeine pills...your problem will be fixed...

between gym, and cutting soda's and caffeine from my diet i feel loads better, and am sleeping less/the same amount.

Try some Enzyte. It should help you make it through the night.

Enzymes are a two edged sword. The give you energy when your body is in motion, but when you become sedentary they make it easier to nod off. I think they do it because they'll help lower your blood pressure.

I like Vitalzym.
