hey guys,

i'm looking into moving some of my computers into rack and rack cases. I really like Hewlett-Packard's ProLiant DL740 case. Does anyone know if HP custom makes them or if they get it from an OEM vendor? I noticed some companies use cases from well known case manufacturers. I was wondering if that is also true for the Proliant.

gracius,

The ProLiant DL380G3 cases are made by Foxconn, and I know HPaq buys alot of stuff from Foxconn, so it would seem pretty reasonable to think Foxconn makes the 740 cases as well.
However, they aren't exactly standard ATX cases, pretty much everything is proprietary.

thanx Sunner,

I'll check out Foxconn's website and see what I can find. Also the bit on proprietary configuration was helpful.

much thanks,

I can pretty much guarantee that you won't find them there.
Anyway, in the 380's, you wouldn't be able to fit any ATX mobo or PSU, and I think you'd have a hard time fitting fans in there, unless you go with 60mm screamers.

In the end, I agree, HP ProLiant cases are absolutely awesome, but I doubt they'll be useful for anything else than their intended purpose.
