Proliant dl385 g2 powersupply problem help!!!

I made a little you tube video of me trying to power on server.

FYI I have built PC's from scratch for years, programmed and all that jaz but servers are brand new to me. I am hoping there is some similarity lol.

Problem: The motherboard appears to go through a sequence (im assuming POST) according to the led's but never comes completely on. My power supply led is notta. Can a bad powersupply partially power up a server?

1) yes the power supply should have a green light on it. But it could be possible that the led is bad as the rest seems to be in stand-by (indicated by the amber light)

You can try to reseat the power supply, or try it in the bay to the left of it and see if the led lights up. If it does not, most likely its bad.


2) the blue led is an identification for UID, which would help identify which server you are accessing so when its in a rack you can tell which one you need to pull the drives.

3) plugging in the power will not turn on the server automatically unless the power fail option is set to Resume AC, so what you would need to do is fine the front panel/power button, which from what I can tell is the amber light that you are pushing.


If you look at the amber light at the top is there any other lights lit up? if so they may help idendify any issue
