Ok here's the issue, I recently moved in with my in-laws while my new house is being built and I'm trying to get my network setup. Orginally I had this setup:
Cable Modem <--> Smoothwall <--> Linksys WRT54GS Router/AP <--
-> Windows DHCP, DNS, AD Server (Wired)
--> PC (Wired)
-> Laptop (Wirelessly)
DHCP was turned off on the Smoothwall and Linksys and everything on the other side of the router was part of the domain I had setup.
What I want to do is keep the same domain setup that I have including using the Linksys as an access point so I don't have to take the laptop out of the domain.
The problem lies in the fact that my father-in-law has his DSL connected to a wireless Netgear router on the second floor and we are in the basement. Running a cable, moving the router, or changing the router's configuration are all out of the question.
Since the DHCP PC has two NICs, a wired one and a wireless one, I'm trying to set it up to connect wirelessly to the Netgear and wired to the Linksys. I still want it to hand out the IPs to everything else if possible and I want everything to still be in my domain. So basically it would look like this:
(Wireless) (Wired)
DSL Modem <--> Netgear Router/AP <-----> Windows DHCP, DNS, AD Server <--> Linksys
-> PC1 (Wired)
WRT54GS Router/AP <-
-> Laptop (Wirelessly)
I have been reading and bugging co-workers about this but can't seem to get it working. I can connect to the Netgear with the DHCP PC and get to the internet on that and everything on the other side of the Linksys is being assigned IPs by that PC and is on the domain but nothing has internet access. Can anyone tell me if this is even possible or what I'm doing wrong?
