Just been through some training at work. Tiny little LCD projector. Great 48" screen. I can figure the obvious pros and cons. A projector might even be cheaper than a large HDTV, and offer similar or greater resolution. On the other hand, they are loud and have bulbs that need replacing.

Thoughts, experiences?

I was leaning heavily toward a projector myself, but ambient light issues turned me toward a RPTV instead. My HT is just in too busy a place in our house rather than a seperate dedicated room, so I feel that a RPTV would suit us better. I'm not a big fan of Football/Basketball in the dark either.

Some projector bulbs can get expensive if you need to replace them. Plus some of those projectors use up a lot of wattage. LCD ones not as bad. I went to a guys house. He made one of those boxes to magnify his tv onto a wall. Homemade big screen projector and surround. Otherwise it would be funny watching the show and hearing everything behind you.
