I was wondering what size projector screen you guys game on and how far away do you sit? I'm installing an Epson 8350 (1080p) and have been testing screen sizes. I will be sitting 10' away from the screen and feel 110" is the money for gaming. I tried Just Cause 2, Dirt 3 and GTA IV on my PC and the immersion was unreal, even coming from a 28" desktop screen. I'm going to use masking panels for 2.35:1 movies and will also have masking to make a 92" 16:9 for when watching television/football/with my wife as she feels the 110" is too big, and I agree for things like football, but gaming on it was sick!

i purchased a projector last week and it should be arriving today. this will be my first projector.

initially i had planned on a 120" 16:9 screen. i am going to be sitting about 13' from the screen.

then i demo'd 2 people's projectors at their home. the first guy had a 100" 16:9 screen and I was probably further than 13' feet away.

the 2nd guy had a 136" screen (2.35:1 though) and was about 12-13 feet away.

i initially felt the 2nd guy's screen was too big. it was so big that you could see the grain in the films and that the quality didn't look "crystal clear" just because you were so close.

so after experiencing that, as well as doing research, i decided to wait until i have the projector and can actually just shoot the image on the blank wall where i will be putting my screen. that way i can play around with screen sizes from the distance i'm sitting, and figure out which will be best for my scenario.

so i'd recommend that you get the projector first and mess around with screen sizes on the blank wall, then purchase the screen once you find a good size, which it seems like you are doing. just get what you personally like and feel is good.

additionally, the guy with the 2.35:1 screen said if he could do it again, he would get a 16:9 screen because while 2.35:1 movies look awesome at 136" filling the whole screen, the bars on the side of a 16:9 movie are just funky.

i too felt this way when i saw a 16:9 movie on his screen with side bars. your mind plays tricks on you as though it is compressing the screen. it was something i never would have really thought about until i saw it with my own eyes, and i'm glad, because i was thinking of getting a 2.35:1 screen initially.

I sit about 11-12 feet from mine, and I have about a 135" 16x9 screen. Love it.
