Hi all,
Gonna be spending the bonus on this little thing

Link

The location im gonna set it up is in my bedroom with the wall being 4m from the projector.

Then i'm gonna run the cable through to my PC in the computer room next door, and its gonna be used as a movie viewer.

Any further thoughts, ideas etc?

Sound will be added after new years, and will run currently off the 4.1 pc speakers, cos i cant afford custom stuff yet.

How much are you going to be paying for that? How did you pick that one out?

you do realize that is a SVGA (800x600) projector, right? Picture quality isn't going to be very good....

If you want to go cheap, at least go XGA (1024x768). It's not HD, but it's a hell of a lot closer than SVGA.

i am going to be paying around $500
i had 3 choices and i narrowed it down to that one, primarily on the budget. my other 2 choices were LG AN110 and some sony with similar specs but lower lifetime of the bulb.

i know its svga, but its max res is 1280x1024 so for hooking it up to the pc and running vga clone, that res is gonna be perfect. hd is out of the question as its too pricy.

It's not really going to be displaying 1280x1024, it's going to be able to accept that resolution and scale it back down to its native resolution of 800x600. At anything other than native resolution, text is probably going to be horrible looking if that is important to you.

Projector Central doesn't have a review or any user opinions on it

Last time I checked there were HT projectors with pretty good performance for $700-$800

Ya the difference between $500-700 projectors is very apparent. The Optoma hd65 can be found for 700ish and would be worlds better than any SD projo you could buy for 500.

You can get a used projector for not too much money. A used CRT can be had for $200 or less, and will do full 720p with incredible contrast. (I just sold mine for about that price.)
