I can get a Dell 3400MP 1024x768 native for a quick and easy barter.

Says it will do 720p and 1080i. I would just use a straight digital connection from my computer for DVD playback and video files (Radeon 9800 Pro).

Sound like a good trade (just a few hours of computer work) Anything I should be aware of? I've never done the projector thing before.

Naturally it's going to be scaling those 720p and 1080i images to fit into the middle 16:9 portion of the screen....

So that would give you a 1024x576 for the 16:9 res.

Biggest thing with projectors is you need a dark room for best results.

EDIT: projector central info

You might want to check it out in person to make sure you aren't bothered by DLPs. (rainbow effect)

Another issue is bulb replacement... so keep that in mind for a cost in the future.
