Hi what is the correct setup for two monitor output we have a projector and lcd tv both we need to use hdmi and vga, we will only use one at a time but we need both hdmi and vga to output also audio on a home theater receiver. Thank you

This is the equipment we have
Projector
LCD TV
Home Theater Receiver with HDMI

When you plug the vga into your video card it will be under your available displays. It is up to you if you want to do 2 separate displays or a mirror, but chances are your tv has a higher resolution than your projector and you don't want to mirror the same resolution.

If both displays are kept active, you can keep the main audio feed going through the tv and then to what ever HI-FI you have. Otherwise the use of onboard/PCIE/USB sound card is needed.

What are your inputs?

Since your projector is VGA I assume it's only for computer use?

If it's really simple: Computer-->projector via VGA. Computer-->Receiver via optical or analog. Computer to Receiver through HDMI. Everything routed to TV through the Receiver. If you've got other inputs you want to put into the projector, well, that's going to be a bit more complicated. Not to mention you may have compatibility issues. I don't know the current state of analog signals allowed in our DRM heavy world.

the inputs are laptop computers, we will use vga or hdmi on the projector and lcd tv but we will not use the projector and lcd tv at the same time. And we want the audio to output on the audio video receiver.

To be cheap and effective, connect all your devices to the Receiver with HDMI. So bluray, Roku, Laptop go into the receiver then the output HDMI connects to a cable with a coupler on it: http://www.homedepot.com/p/CE-TECH-HDMI-Extension-Adapter-HDMI-F-F-AD/203717731

Then run hdmi cables from the projector and LCD TV to where your receiver is located and connect which ever is needed at the time.
