Im just guessing here but I think projection TV's are those big screens that suck ass, ya know where you cant see it at a certain angle and the cloudy image quality. As for projectors Im not sure whether those are any good but Im sure they are for their hefty price tags.

Well, the Projection TVs are those big screen TVs that have a backscreen projector (you don't see it) and they are kinda thin compared to normal TVs, their sizes vary between 44" and 66" I guess, and for the "you cant see it at a certain angle and the cloudy image quality" problem, if you buy a high quality TV, it doesn't have this problem, or atleast, not as bad as the lower quality ones.
The advantage of buying Projection TVs is their price, their so cheap compared to Plazma TVs, plus, the Plazma technologi isn't good enough for use yet, because Plazma TVs gets deteriorated by time and the screen looses its colors in about 5 years (it becomes gray), so if you wanna repair the TV, you gotta pay about 600$.
So, the choise is yours.

there are 3 diff projection TV types:
1. CRT: traditional big screen tv, usually poor viewing anglesbut gennerally the cheapest type
2. LCD rear projection: big screen, good side to side viewing, uses little LCD chips to filter light to make a picture(simple explanation) generally poor black level (black doesn't look black, more grayish), more expensive
3. DLP rear projection: big screen, better black level than LCDs, uses a rotating color wheel to filter light to display picture, but some people can see a "rainbow effect" (color wheel doesn't spin fast enough for some people with fast eyes so there is an interesting color effect as scene changes, never seen it myself)costs on par with LCD

Plasma: usually very expensive compared to others and along with CRT subject to burn in (images such as video game menus or even sports tickers that stay on screen for long periods of time leave a kind of ghost on the screen

Im just a noob on this stuff but if u want to learn more about it go here Text

if console or pc gaming is a must go LCD or DLP
otherwise go to the store and buy what looks best and fits the budget
